What's the difference between an Instant Issue and a Personalized Card?

Instant Issue Cards

You will receive an Instant Issue Card when you

  1. sign up for Ferry on your first day of work, or
  2. lose your card and request a temporary card from your manager.

All Instant Issue cards are unpersonalized (meaning your name won't be printed on the back of the card), but they can be used the same way a Personalized Card can be used.

To activate an Instant Issue Card:

  1. Login to your Ferry Account
  2. Navigate to the Card Details Page
  3. Click Activate
  4. Select "Activate temporary card"

Personalized Cards

Once you have hit the initial load threshold on your Instant Issue Card, a Personalized Card will be automatically mailed to your address on file. This card will have your name printed on the back.

If you never hit the initial load threshold on your Instant Issue Card, you can continue to use it until the expiration date printed on the back of the card.

As soon as you activate your Personalized Card, your Instant Issue Card will be deactivated.

To activate a Personalized Card:

  1. Login to your Ferry Account
  2. Navigate to the Card Details Page
  3. Click Activate
  4. Select "Activate your new card"
